Privacy policy

The short version

syca is a text and code sharing tool. You don't need an account to use it. We don't sell data, run ads, or track you across other sites. This page explains exactly what's stored and why.

What we collect

• Paste content. Whatever you paste — title, language, and the content itself — is stored so the link works. Anyone with the link can view a public paste.
• Account info, if you sign up. Name, email, and either a password hash or a Google account ID (never your Google password). We use this to show your dashboard and let you manage your own pastes.
• Basic usage data. A view counter per paste, and timestamps for when a paste was created or is set to expire.
• Reports. If a paste is reported, we store the reason, any details given, and the reporting IP address — used only to prevent spam reports and to review the content.

What we don't collect

• No analytics or advertising trackers.
• No cross-site tracking or fingerprinting.
• No selling or sharing of your data with third parties for marketing.
• Anonymous pastes (created without signing in) aren't linked to any identity we hold — we don't know who created them.

Cookies and sessions

If you sign in, we set a single session cookie so you stay logged in. It's used only to keep you authenticated and expires after 7 days of inactivity. We don't use cookies for advertising or tracking.

Expiration and burn-after-reading

Pastes you set to expire are deleted automatically once the expiry time passes. Pastes marked "burn after reading" are deleted immediately after their first view — after that, the content is gone and can't be recovered by us or anyone else.

Third parties

A few things load from outside services to make the app work:

• Google Sign-In, only if you choose to use it — governed by Google's privacy policy.
• Font and icon CDNs (Google Fonts, jsDelivr) used purely to load typefaces and icons, not to track visitors.

Your choices

• Delete any paste you own at any time from your dashboard — it's removed immediately.
• Skip an account entirely and paste anonymously; nothing is tied to you.
• Contact us to request deletion of your account and everything tied to it.
